About Jumuyias

St. Anthony of Padua, SCC was initially listed as a prayer group comprising of various members from the Madaraka area and its adjacent environs. The prayer group was then administered under the auspices of the Our Lady Queen of Peace, South B Parish. On 13th June 1996, coincidentally, the Feast day of our Patron Saint, Fr. Anthony Fernandez, the second Director and Parish Priest of the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, offered Mass for the prayer group and it officially became an SCC, offered under the patronage of St. Anthony of Padua. He is the Patron Saint of Lost Articles.

BIOGRAPHY OF OUR PATRON SAINT

St. Anthony of Padua, Anthony also spelled Antony, Italian Sant’Antonio da Padova, original name Fernando Martins de Bulhões, (born 1195, Lisbon, Portugal—died June 13, 1231, Arcella, Verona [now in Italy]; canonized 1232; feast day June 13), Franciscan friardoctor of the church, and patron of the poor. Padua and Portugal claim him as their patron saint, and he is invoked for the return of lost property.

PRAYER OF JUMUIA

Saint Anthony of Padua, we seek your powerful intercession to have the right words on our lips to inspire the faithful and to correct and guide the ignorant. Through your example, may our words also be buttressed by our powerful witness to Christ.

NOVENA OF OUR PATRON SAINT

Prayer for Grace

“Let us therefore pray to our Lord Jesus Christ that he give us the grace to seek his Kingdom and to build within ourselves a moral Jerusalem. By doing this, we will be able to merit our place in the heavenly Jerusalem to sing Alleluia in its streets with all the saints and angels. But the One whose Kingdom is eternal for all ages must help us to do so.”

Your Name Is Joy

“Sweet Jesus, is there anything sweeter than you? To remember you is more delightful than everything else. Your name is joy; it is the true gate of our salvation. What else are you, Jesus, if not our Savior? Be our Redeemer. Give us the virtues of hope and love, just as you have given us faith, our primary joy. Give us the words that we need to praise you always. With the help and through the prayers of your mother. You who are blessed throughout the ages. Amen.”
